Samwel works from Bopinc's office in Kenya and is co-leading their Digital Innovation portfolio. After having started as a software developer, Samwel worked for more than 8 years on digital transformation of last-mile distribution channels. At Unilever he worked on different pilot and scale-up projects in Kenya, Ghana and Nigeria. This includes the rollout of Unilever's in-house solution Leveredge, which uses machine learning principles that help Unilever's sales reps pro-actively restock the retailers in their territory. Samwel also collaborated with Mastercard, KCB and Jaza Duka, which is a financial inclusion provider for small retailers that helps Unilever manage inventory at small retail stores. In all these projects, Samwel learned the importance of strategic partnerships and human centered design approaches when onboarding low-income retailers and consumers to digital (finance) solutions that are new to them.
