Qualifications: Bachelor of Law, a Masters of Law in International Trade & Investment Law, and is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya, as well as a Notary Public and a Certified Public Secretary.


  


Stephen joined Vodacom as Chief External Affairs Officer: Vodacom Group in November 2021. Stephen has a deep background in Regulatory and Legal affairs. He is responsible for Group Regulatory, External and Corporate Affairs, which includes Public Policy, Communications, Media Relations, Group Corporate Social Investment (CSI) and Sustainability. The role covers all the Vodacom Group markets: DRC, Lesotho, Mozambique, Tanzania, and South Africa, as well as Vodafone Ghana. He will also support Safaricom PLC and Safaricom Telecommunications Ethiopia PLC.


Stephen has a wealth of telecommunications professional experience spanning over 17 years in various organisations, including Vodafone Group UK. Prior to joining Vodacom, he joined Safaricom in 2006 as an In-House Counsel and would later rise to become the Senior Manager, Public Policy & Market Regulation until 2011 when he was appointed Head of Regulatory and Public Policy. In 2015, he became the Director, Corporate Affairs, a role that has since changed the title to Chief Corporate Affairs Officer which he held until November 2021.
